The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has commenced investigations into incidents that led to the abrupt end of the match day 33 fixture between Basake Holy Stars and Nations FC.

The FA’s action followed reports of violent incidents that occurred during the Ghana Premier League match which outcome could affect the shape of the table ahead of the final day of matches on Sunday.

Nations FC was at the top of the table with 60 points and needed the maximum points to stay as favourites for this year’s competition.

That made the game against Holy Stars a must-win encounter but incidents on the day led to a boycott as Nations FC players and officials complained bitterly about the level of officiating.

In a statement issued by the FA, it assured all stakeholders, including clubs, players, match officials, supporters, and the general public, that it remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of the game and will deal with all issues arising from the matter expeditiously and decisively.

“We urge all parties involved to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigations. Further updates will be provided in due course,” it stated.
