MLP Academics Heidelberg (BBL) signed 27-year-old American swingman Marcus Weathers (college: SMU) for the new season. He is the second import player on the roster, joining Austrian Erol Ersek. Weathers last played at Trefl in the Polish OBL league, averaging 7.6ppg, 5.3rpg, and 1.2apg in 36 games. He also played 13 games in the Eurocup, averaging 9.5ppg, 5.0rpg, and 1.0apg. In the previous (2023-24) season, he played for KK Mornar-Barsko Zlato Bar in the Montenegrin league.
Weathers is a very experienced player, having played professionally in six different countries on three continents thanks to pro basketball. He has experience in European, Asian, and North American leagues. Weathers has played in Montenegro, Philippines (North Port), Taiwan (GhostHawks), Turkey (Ankaragucu), and The Basketball Tournament (DuBois Dream).
He played in the final of Taiwanese T1 League in 2023, among many awards. He was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Adriatic League Honorable Mention in 2024.
Weathers graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2022 and it'll be his fourth season in pro basketball. He played for other colleges like University of Duquesne and Miami University.
