Gas turbine leaders gather in Abuja for Africa's power revolution
Industry leaders, engineers, policymakers and energy experts will converge in Abuja next week for the Annual Gas Turbine Asset Management Conference 2025.
The event is focused on transforming Africa’s power sector through innovation in gas turbine technology and asset management. Organised by Thomassen Energy and PE Energy, the conference will hold 23 to 24 June under the theme ‘Unleashing Value: Innovative Asset Strategies for a Resilient African Economy’.
The organisers said, in a release, that the two-day event aims to tackle the urgent need for sustainable and efficient power solutions across the continent.
With power demand on the rise and turbine fleets ageing, industry experts emphasise the importance of optimising and extending the life of existing infrastructure, rather than focusing solely on new builds.
Chairman and Group CEO of PANA Holdings, Dr Daere Akobo, expressed belief in the future of Africa’s power, stressing that while building new assets are critical, there is a need to unlock the full value of existing ones.
CEO of Thomassen Energy, Peter Stuttaford said: “Asset management is no longer a back-office function; it is the frontline of Africa’s energy transformation. Together with our partners, PE Energy, we are here to drive solutions that extend turbine life, localise expertise and power a future that is both sustainable and self-reliant.”
