Gachagua condemned for 'reckless' remarks on 2027 elections violence
Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has expressed the utterances made by the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua regarding the 2027 general elections, terming them as reckless.
The legislator has urged the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party to ignore Gachagua, its former Party leader who left after his removal as Deputy President.
“Gachagua’s remarks on potential violence in 2027, if the election is rigged, were reckless. He needs to focus on his party instead. UDA should ignore Gachagua because he speaks too much,” Senator Osotsi said.
The Senator urged Gachagua to focus on his political party, which he launched on Thursday last week.
Belgut MP Nelson Koech, also present on Citizen TV DayBreak show, weighed in on the matter, stating that Gachagua’s DCP isn’t a legitimate political party but a composition of individuals who have failed in public service.
“Gachagua cannot be considered a competitor. He has a poisonous tongue and shouldn't threaten Kenyans through chaos similar to that of 2007,” he remarked.
In response, DCP Deputy Party Leader and former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala defended his party leader’s statements, arguing that Gachagua was merely offering a prediction rather than making threats.
“What Rigathi Gachagua was doing was prophesying. He was dreaming, it was like a foreshadow. Is it wrong to imagine?” Malala explained.
