Full list: ICC, 5 other FCT facilities named after Tinubu since 2023
Since taking office in May 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has seen his name etched onto some of Nigeria’s key public institutions, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In just two years, at least six prominent structures have been renamed or established in his honour, ranging from education and technology hubs to military and legislative facilities.
Here’s a rundown of the institutions now bearing President Tinubu’s name:
1. Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks, Abuja.
Inaugurated: January 23, 2025.
Located in the Asokoro district, this new military facility was named after Tinubu by the Nigerian Army. It was established to boost accommodation for troops and support security operations in the capital.
2. Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic, Abuja
Announced: January 16, 2025.
This new federal polytechnic in Gwarinpa was formally named by the Federal Ministry of Education. It’s intended to expand access to technical and
vocational education in the FCT.
3. Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC)
Commissioned: December 2024
Unveiled by the Ministry of Interior, this innovation hub serves the Nigeria Immigration Service and focuses on digital transformation and research, aligning with Tinubu’s tech-forward agenda.
4. Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu Building (National Assembly Library)
Renamed: May 29, 2024
On the first anniversary of Tinubu’s presidency, the National Assembly renamed its research and legislative documentation centre in his honour. The gesture was meant to recognise his contributions to national development.
5. Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Abuja
Implemented: March 2024.
A key section of the Southern Parkway in Abuja was renamed without public ceremony but drew attention after new signage was installed. The renamed route underscores the growing number of landmarks reflecting Tinubu’s legacy.
6. Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre
Renamed: June 10, 2025.
Most recently, the iconic International Conference Centre (ICC), a premier venue for national and international events, was renamed in recognition of Tinubu’s leadership and political influence.
