Fujian Coast Guard Patrols Waters Near Kinmen
The Fujian coast guard recently conducted a routine law enforcement patrol in the waters near Kinmen on Monday, as confirmed by Zhu Anqing, spokesperson for the China Coast Guard (CCG) East China Sea Bureau. This patrol is part of a broader, intensified effort by the Fujian coast guard that commenced in June. Since the beginning of June, the Fujian coast guard has systematically organized fleet formations to bolster its law enforcement presence and activities in the maritime areas adjacent to Kinmen. These concerted operations are not limited to routine patrols but also encompass special law enforcement operations, particularly those related to the ongoing summer fishing moratorium. This dual approach aims to ensure comprehensive maritime governance and control.
The overarching objective of these sustained measures, according to Zhu Anqing, is to significantly enhance maritime controls within the relevant waters. Furthermore, these efforts are crucial for safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests, as well as the lives and property, of Chinese fishermen. This protection explicitly extends to fishermen from the Taiwan region, underscoring a commitment to the well-being of all Chinese nationals engaged in fishing activities in these waters. Beyond protection, the patrols play a vital role in upholding and maintaining normal navigation and operational order within the strategically important Xiamen-Kinmen maritime area. The consistent presence and law enforcement actions of the Fujian coast guard are thus instrumental in ensuring stability and security in this sensitive region.
