Four people killed in Dickinson County crash

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Four people were killed and four were injured Saturday afternoon in a head-on crash in Dickinson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash occurred around 3 p.m. on K-4 in the western part of the county.

Troopers confirmed that four people died in the crash that involved two vehicles.

KHP says a 2013 Hyundai Elantra was traveling eastbound and crossed the center line on K-4 and struck a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse head on.

A medical helicopter transported one person to Wesley Medical Center, while others were taken to a regional hospital for care.

Those killed in the Hyundai were 8-year-old Nathaniel Haney of Herington, 71-year-old Peggy Sutton of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and the driver, 30-year-old Dawn Peel of Herington. A fourth occupant in the car, a 6-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.

Denise Henely, 57, of Herington, was killed in the Chevrolet while its driver, 23-year-old Adam Henely of Salina, suffered minor injuries. A 14-year-old passenger was taken to Wesley Medical Center for serious injuries, while a 20-year-old male suffered minor injuries.

KHP says all occupants were wearing their seatbelts.

Details including what led up to the crash are still being investigated.
