No fewer than ten critically ill patients in Kano and Katsina states have received a donation of N7 million to settle the accrued medical bills and also cover their treatment for cancer and other serious health issues that they face.
The support that came from donations from Abdullahi and Hafsatu Ganduje Foundation is said to be part of the foundation’s monthly outreach activities to assist the vulnerable.
Speaking to newsmen during the presentation of the donation to the beneficiaries and their families, the Acting Director General of the foundation, Dr. Abubakar Isah Bakori, revealed that the beneficiaries were drawn from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) Kano; Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital (MMSH) Kano; and Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Katsina.
According to him, the donation is part of the Foundation’s monthly intervention program aimed at supporting indigent patients admitted in hospitals but unable to pay their bills. He further explained that the foundation is seriously committed to humanitarian health interventions as a measure to assist the less privileged in the society.
“Today’s donation is part of the foundation’s monthly outreach intervention to assist people on admission in various hospitals by donating to offset their hospital bills. This month, five people from MMSH, three from AKTH and three from FMC Katsina have received N7 million donations to cover medical bills for their treatment for cancer and other serious health issues,” he said.
Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries Malam Ibrahim Yakubu, appreciated the management of the benefiting hospitals and that of the foundation for what he termed as a timely intervention. He described the donation as a lifeline for patients who were in desperate need of help.
