The fully furnished project, which cost $100 000, is made up of two units of six classroom blocks, a headmaster's office, a computer laboratory and washrooms.

The project, which was awarded in 2023, was completed in less than two years and was funded through the benevolence of friends and members of the foundation.

At durbar of chiefs and people to handover the facility to the community, the Founder and Leader of the foundation, Justin Jones Fosu, a native of Akyeremade based in the US, said in 2019, the group visited the school and saw the challenges and, as an organisation that supports education in under-served communities, decided to support with the facility.

The project, he said, was to promote quality education in Akyeremade and its surrounding communities and promised to bring other initiatives to promote education in the area.

“This is just the beginning, we have plans for more educational packages for the school, construction of a technology laboratory, primary block and many more,” he added.

Mr Fosu encouraged the pupils to make good use of the facility, take their education seriously to enable them to make an impact in their community.

The Headmaster of the school, Samuel Asante, was grateful to the foundation for the provision of the classroom for the growing population of the school, thus solving some of the challenges facing the school.

That notwithstanding, he said the school still faced challenges and called on all and sundry to come to the assistance of the school and help to uplift its image.

Some of the challenges, he said, were the lack of a well-furnished ICT lab for teaching and learning ICT and inadequate classrooms for the primary school.

The headmaster suggested the institution of an exchange programme that would allow pupils and teachers to visit the USA for educational programmes.

In a related development, Professor Augustine Fosu, a US-based Philanthropist and father of Mr J.J. Fosu, has also handed over a modern three-unit classroom facility to the Behenase D/A Basic School, also in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.

This was in addition to the school library that he constructed and stocked for the school and the community last year.

Prof. Fosu has previously undertaken various charitable initiatives in the community and was hopeful that the well-furnished classrooms would help the school deal with its growing student population.
