(CNN) - A familiar face from MTV’s golden era has died.
Ananda Lewis, a beloved VJ and talk show host, died at the age of 52.
Lewis helped shape a generation of music fans as a host on “MTV Live” during the 1990s.
Lewis’ death was confirmed by her sister, who shared a tribute on Facebook.
Lewis appeared, along with two CNN reporters, in an interview last October where she revealed her breast cancer had progressed to stage 4.
Lewis became a powerful voice for awareness, speaking candidly about her treatment.
In addition to her MTV fame, Lewis hosted “The Ananda Lewis Show from 2001 to 2002, producing more than 250 episodes.
