A brush fire broke out on a hillside across from the Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego, California, on Tuesday, January 21.

By Tuesday afternoon, officials said the fire, dubbed the Friars Fire, had grown to three acres.

A mandatory evacuation order was issued for parts of the Mission Valley area that same day.
