FG, Trinidad and Tobago sign BASA pact, BRUHM expands retail presence in Ghana

In a move to strengthen international ties and boost air connectivity, the Federal Government of Nigeria has formalized a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) with Trinidad and Tobago. The agreement, signed yesterday, aims to enhance air links between West African nations and the Caribbean, marking a significant step in fostering trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two regions.

The agreement was signed by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, at a ceremony held at Piarco International Airport. This event signifies the official commencement of direct air links between Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago.

According to a statement released by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Tunde Moshood, the BASA is the result of extensive diplomatic and technical discussions that began during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Minister Keyamo emphasized the historical significance of the agreement, stating, "Today’s signing not only fulfills a long-standing bilateral vision initiated during President Obasanjo’s time but also represents our commitment to expanding Nigeria’s global aviation footprint."

Minister Sinanan echoed this sentiment, expressing optimism about the agreement’s potential to enhance cooperation and create new aviation opportunities for carriers in both the Caribbean and Africa.

Meanwhile, in Ghana, home appliance brand BRUHM is intensifying its market presence through direct community engagement, retail expansion, and promotional activities. The brand recently conducted a three-day roadshow across key commercial areas in Accra, including Circle, Madina, Kasoa, and Accra Central. The roadshow featured live cooking demonstrations using BRUHM gas cookers, product displays, and appearances by local influencers, providing Ghanaians with a firsthand experience of BRUHM products.

Ms. Awurakua Antwi, Brands Communication Manager for BRUHM Ghana, highlighted the purpose of the roadshow: "Our aim was to meet Ghanaians where they are and let them experience BRUHM products in real-time. We’re focused on building trust and helping consumers make confident choices for their homes."

BRUHM has also introduced a Shop-in-Shop retail concept at the new Electromart branch at Atomic Junction, offering a comprehensive display of BRUHM appliances. To mark the launch, Ghanaian music icon Reggie Rockstone received a chest freezer as an endorsement of the brand’s practicality and affordability.

BRUHM products are now widely accessible through retail chains such as Melcom, China Mall, Electromart, Super Save, and Kitchen & Beyond, as well as online platforms like Jumia and Electromart’s digital stores. Additionally, BRUHM has launched Easter Promotions for 2025, featuring bundled deals, such as free fans with the purchase of air conditioners at Electromart outlets.

Ms. Antwi added, "Buying BRUHM is not just a purchase—it’s a long-term investment in convenience and reliability. We are consistently listening to customers and adapting our offerings to suit their needs." BRUHM plans to introduce more customer-focused campaigns, expand retail partnerships, and launch new products tailored for Ghanaian households in the future.
