The most anticipated moment of the Monaco weekend has arrived and engines are revving up: follow the live race report with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton aiming to deliver victory for Ferrari.
Time to hit the track through the narrow streets of Monte Carlo, with Charles Leclerc starting from the front row and Lewis Hamilton forced to rebuild his race after a penalty: follow our live report of the Monaco GP. The race kicks off at 3 PM Italian time, marking the second European round of the championship and the eighth race of the 2025 F1 season.
To make the Monaco race more exciting, the Federation has introduced a new rule for this season: teams are now required to make two pit stops to run all three tyre compounds. Let’s take a closer look at the new regulations.
Each driver must use at least three different tyre sets during the Grand Prix, instead of the usual two. As per usual rules, drivers must use at least two different tyre compounds, such as soft and medium. These rules also apply when wet-weather tyres are used.
Regarding potential penalties, a driver who finishes the race without using the required number of tyre sets will be disqualified. However, if the race is suspended and cannot be resumed, a driver who used only two sets will receive a 30-second penalty. If only one set was used, the penalty will be one minute.
Furthermore, drivers are only required to change tyres, not necessarily to perform pit stops. This means tyre changes can also be made during red flag phases.
As for the Sunday weather forecast, the temperature will be around 22 degrees Celsius at race time for the eighth round of the 2025 season. There should be no rain throughout the day, with sunshine expected to shine over Charles Leclerc’s home circuit.
