"Every Nigerian Must Be Financially Ready" Platnova CEO Benjamin Oyemonlan Urges Citizens to Open USD Accounts - THISDAYLIVE
Benjamin Oyemonlan, the CEO of Platnova, has emphasized the importance of financial preparedness for Nigerians in today’s fast-paced, global economy. Speaking on the growing need for foreign currency access, Oyemonlan highlighted why owning a personal USD account is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
“Too many Nigerians are caught off guard when international opportunities arise,” he said. “Whether it’s a freelance payment, an unexpected gift from abroad, or a school bill in dollars being unprepared can cost you more than just money.”
Citing a recent case, Oyemonlan recalled the story of Michael, a Nigerian freelancer who lost valuable time and possibly a client because he had no personal USD account to receive payments. Like many others, Michael had relied on friends’ Payoneer accounts or third-party platforms that were unreliable and often blocked.
“Earning in dollars is pointless if you can’t receive it directly and securely,” Oyemonlan noted. “At Platnova, we are solving this problem by enabling Nigerians to open verified USD accounts in their own names, right from their phones no paperwork, no stress.”
According to Oyemonlan, a USD account is essential not only for freelancers but also for entrepreneurs, students, digital creators, and anyone with global ties. “This is not about showing off with a dollar account,” he said. “It’s about being ready. Ready to receive. Ready to send. Ready to act when opportunity comes knocking.”
He further explained that Platnova’s USD accounts are compatible with platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, Deel, and accept direct ACH, RTP, Wire, and SWIFT transfers from US banks. “The accounts are personal, not pooled or shared wallets that trigger issues later. Payments reflect instantly, and users are in full control.”
Oyemonlan’s message is clear: as Nigeria’s youth continue to tap into global markets, digital payments, and remote opportunities, financial infrastructure must evolve with them.
“Platnova was built with this future in mind,” he concluded. “Every Nigerian deserves a simple, secure way to transact globally and we’re making that possible.”
