Elon Musk Advertises Open Job Vacancy for Software Engineers: "We Don't Care Where You Schooled"

American billionaire Elon Musk has invited applications for a job position in software engineering.

Musk, who is known for a decorated career in coding, said the position is open to all qualified and interested candidates.

The world's richest person urged applicants from wherever they are to apply without mentioning the school they attended or the company they have worked for.

"We don’t care where you went to school, whether you went to school, or what “big name” company you worked at," Musk urged applicants.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO said all the candidate requires is to "just show us your code."

Musk added that applicants should submit their sample coding via the email address [email protected].

"If you’re a hardcore software engineer and want to build the everything app, please join us by sending your best work to [email protected]," he added.

The announcement came after Elon Musk's EV company cut more than 10% of its 140,000 employees in 2024.

Speaking exclusively to , CV optimisation expert Hillary Lisimba advised Kenyans who wish to apply for Elon Musk software engineering job to highlight their technical abilities in their work samples.

Lisimba highlighted skills such as software development, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data science.

"Your work should show these skills and how they can solve complex technical challenges or contribute to the success of a project. Ensure to show simplicity and efficiency in your work and ability to collaborate with different people ranging from programmers to software and hardware engineers to marketers to designers," said Lisimba.

In Kenya, the average salary of a software developer is Ksh. 153,000 monthly and Ksh. 1,830,000 yearly.

According to Indeed, the average salary for a Software Engineer in the United States is $105,687 (KSh 13.7 million) per year.

I&M Bank asked interested and qualified candidates to submit their CVs and other documents through its online recruitment portal.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) advertised 290 jobs for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) assistants.

Safaricom invited applications from qualified and interested individuals to fill various open job positions in January 2025.
