In a post on X on Thursday, Musk accused Trump of lying, stating, “False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!”

Elon Musk, the American billionaire, has again lashed out at President Donald Trump over the President’s claims that Musk was aware of the controversial spending he has been criticizing.

In a post on X on Thursday, Musk accused Trump of lying, stating, “False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!”

The breaking point in the relationship between the president and his former ally came after weeks of Musk’s efforts to block the president’s spending bill, which was passed by the US House last month and is awaiting a Senate vote.

Shortly after resigning from the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) after 129 days in the job, Musk used his platform on X to denounce the bill and criticized those who supported it.

He argued that the bill would irresponsibly increase the US national debt and urged his followers to contact their representatives to oppose it.

During a news conference on Thursday with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump defended the bill while speaking to reporters and stated, "I'm very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here. All of a sudden he had a problem."

He further implied that Musk was displeased with the elimination of subsidies and mandates for electric vehicles, a move that could impact his Tesla business.

Denying this, Musk wrote: "Keep the EV/solar incentive cuts in the bill, even though no oil & gas subsidies are touched (very unfair!!), but ditch the MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK in the bill."

On Thursday, Musk issued a particularly sharp rebuke to a president keenly aware of his voter support: 'Without me, Trump would have lost the election,' Musk retorted. In a follow-up post, he added, 'Such ingratitude.'

The tech billionaire—who stepped down last week as a top White House advisor—claimed that the Republican leader is mentioned in classified government records concerning wealthy and influential former Epstein associates.

The Trump administration has confirmed that it is reviewing tens of thousands of documents, videos, and investigative material, which its 'MAGA' movement asserts will expose public figures tied to Epstein's crimes.

"Time to drop the really big bomb: (Trump) is in the Epstein files," Musk posted on his social media platform, X, as a growing feud with the president boiled over into a vicious public spat.

"That is the real reason they have not been made public."

"Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out," Musk added.

The alliance between the two men took shape when Musk endorsed Trump last July, following an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.

Reports suggest that the Tesla chief directed $290 million (£213 million) toward efforts to secure Trump's return to the White House.
