Edo bye-election: Aspirants step down as APC adopts candidates - Blueprint Newspapers Limited

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state has adopted Barr. Omosede Igbinedion as the sole candidate for Ovia Federal Constituency seat ahead of the August 16, 2025 bye-election.

The party also adopted Joseph Ikea as its sole candidate for Edo Central Senatorial bye-election.

The seats became vacant following the election of former occupiers, Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa as governor and deputy governor of the state.

Chairman of the APC in the state, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, on Friday addressed stakeholders at a meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Benin City.

Aspirants who stepped down for the ambition of Omosede and Joseph attended the stakeholders’ meeting which held under the watch of APC national committee members for the party’s primary.

The party chair commended the aspirants who stepped down from the race for their decision to ensure party cohesion.
