EDL Seeks to Optimize Power Sector Performance
(MENAFN) Electricité du Laos (EDL), the state-owned power utility, is stepping up efforts to optimize its electricity operations by improving coordination across national and local levels and increasing overall operational efficiency.
According to media reports on Thursday, EDL Chairman Akhomdeth Vongsay emphasized the importance of refining electricity pricing, enhancing cooperation between central and provincial authorities, and creating clear, actionable plans during a meeting with senior officials in Xaysomboun province on Wednesday.
The meeting included a presentation summarizing recent accomplishments such as better grid oversight, improved customer service, reductions in energy loss, more effective debt recovery, and greater system stability. The report also pointed to measures underway to boost transparency and public awareness.
Local authorities shared forward-looking strategies focused on making the system more efficient, reliable, and sustainable. These plans involve infrastructure upgrades, digital technology adoption, staff training, and encouraging more efficient energy use.
