Mr. Gbande named Alexander Afenyo-Markin, former Board Chairman of ECG; Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), former Energy Minister; and Samuel Dubik Mahama, former ECG CEO; as individuals who must be held accountable for the scandal.
The missing containers, which reportedly contained critical electrical equipment for national power distribution, vanished under suspicious circumstances, raising concerns about procurement irregularities and mismanagement.
According to reports, these containers were imported to support ECG operations but mysteriously disappeared, with allegations surfacing that government officials and ECG executives were aware of the issue but failed to act.
Gbande did not hold back in his call for justice, insisting that the trio must be arrested immediately to ensure accountability.
“The Board Chairman, Afenyo-Markin, now wants to run away from responsibility, but it is in the interest of the country for him to be arrested immediately. I am calling for the immediate arrest of Afenyo-Markin, Samuel Dubik Mahama, and Matthew Opoku Prempeh because we cannot continue to tolerate corruption at this level—it is time for action,” he stated.
The shocking revelations have reignited public outrage over accountability in state-owned enterprises, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.
Authorities have yet to issue an official response to the allegations.
