The driver of a dump truck is waiting to be removed after slamming into a home in Gloucester County, New Jersey, on Tuesday afternoon.

Gloucester County Emergency Response said the Woodbury Police believe the driver may have experienced a medical emergency before crashing into a home on Woodbury Glassboro Road.

Before the crash, the truck ran through multiple lawns after striking a utility pole. CBS News Philadelphia was told the homeowner, who was there at the time, has been rescued.

The Gloucester County Emergency Response chief and the Woodbury Heights mayor gave updates at the scene.

Chief Andrew Halter said the driver was still in the truck, trapped, but he is talking with first responders as they develop a game plan to safely remove him. But they said there was an issue with the removal.

"Part of the problem with the game plan because the house is experiencing a full collapse. The house is on top of the dump truck at this time," said Halter.

With about 75-100 first responders on the scene and the truck in the basement, they are still awaiting the final removal of the driver.

Halter said people from one home close to the collapsed house were removed as a safety precaution.

There are no concerns about gas and electric, but there is going to be a further assessment once the driver is removed from the truck and from the house.

Halter said there may be some localized outages in the area due to the crash and to securing lines for the first responders who are operating.

The neighbors said they heard the homeowner scream for help. One neighbor across the street was on her way out with her child before the crash.

"I heard a loud crash and then, next thing I know, there's a truck in my neighbor's house," said Samantha Burke. "I ran out, I called 911, then we went across the street because we smelled gas."

"I'm babysitting 4-year-old twins and we're just hanging out, having a good day, then this happened," said Katie Jordan. "My heart stopped. ... This is like the busiest road."
