JOHANNESBURG - The Defence Force says the withdrawal of its troops from DRC is going to plan.

But reports out of Goma say soldiers were left stranded after transport buses did not arrive as scheduled.

This is a city held by M23 rebels, which the South African soldiers were helping to fight.

Around 3,000 SANDF members have been deployed since 2023 as part of SADC's peacekeeping efforts.

Ricardo Teixeira from DefenceWeb said the SANDF members are eager to get home.
