Davido Announces White Wedding Date With Chioma

Afrobeat superstar Davido has officially announced the date and location for his highly anticipated white wedding with Chioma Avril Rowland. Ten months after their elaborate traditional marriage ceremony in Nigeria, the singer revealed that the white wedding will take place in Miami, Florida, in August 2025.

Davido made the announcement during an interview on The Breakfast Club, which aired on April 8, 2025. He described their traditional marriage, which occurred in June 2024 at Eko Hotels, Lagos, as a monumental event. "Our traditional marriage shut down Nigeria because our relationship was in the public eye, and a lot have happened," he stated, referencing both the joyous occasion and the challenges they have faced as a couple.

"I’m doing my white wedding in Miami, in August this year," Davido confirmed, generating considerable excitement among fans and followers eager to witness the next chapter in their love story. The traditional marriage was a star-studded affair that captivated the nation, and the upcoming white wedding is expected to draw similar attention.

During the interview, Davido reflected on the cultural significance of their traditional marriage. "The wedding I did was traditional, it was like a carnival in Nigeria, like a holiday. The whole world stood still," he said, emphasizing the deep cultural roots and widespread celebration that accompanied the event.

He also noted that the Miami white wedding would offer a contrast to the Nigerian traditions, suggesting a more intimate and perhaps Western-influenced ceremony. Davido touched on the dynamics within some Nigerian households, where mothers often play a central role, influencing family dynamics and relationships.

Davido further opened up about past challenges and viewed the upcoming wedding as a moment of redemption for both him and Chioma. "Me and my wife’s relationship was in the public eye, especially after I did that one song… Even apart from losing our child, I messed up a lot of times so that full circle moment everyone was like finally she can get what she deserves."

The singer lauded Chioma for her resilience and commitment to maintaining a private life despite the constant public scrutiny. "My wife, you can never see her go to any interview or take a phone to say ‘oh, my husband did this’ or see her go on live — like the normal things. And I appreciate her for that because she could." He acknowledged that while no relationship is perfect, he is dedicated to making amends and building a stronger future together.

Davido and Chioma's relationship first captured public attention in 2018 and has since evolved into one of Nigeria’s most closely followed celebrity unions. The upcoming white wedding in Miami marks a significant milestone in their journey, symbolizing their enduring love and commitment to each other.
