Damagum: Atiku's Exit From PDP Familiar Pattern, He'll Come Back

Published 1 day ago1 minute read

The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has said that the exit of its former presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is normal and familiar with him.

Damagum who stated this while speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Friday, explained that it was not the first time the former Vice President had left the party, adding that such moves are not unusual in Nigerian politics.

“It is politics as usual. What goes around comes around. This is not the first time he’s leaving, we’re expecting him back;” adding that the party holds no grudges against him since he’ll still return.

He assured that the PDP remains committed to its founding ideals and is working towards addressing internal challenges, not just within the party, but also across Nigeria’s political landscape.

According to him, the party is focused on strengthening its structure and unity, while also repositioning itself ahead of future political contests.

Recall that in a letter addressed to the Chairman of Jada 1 Ward in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Abubakar who said he was resigning from the PDP cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for his leaving the party.
