West Midlands Fire Service said crews remained at the scene to dampen hot spots on Thursday but "good progress" had been made overnight

Fire crews are continuing to dampen hot spots after a suspected arson attack at a derelict college.

Crews were called to the former Henley College building on Henley Road, Coventry, at about 19:15 BST on Tuesday.

West Midlands Fire Service said it had made "good progress" overnight and expected to reduce the number of crews at the scene.

Two boys aged 14 and 15 were arrested on suspicion of arson on Wednesday and remained in custody, West Midlands Police said.

A large orange fire fills the night sky. Trees are in front of the fire and large plumes of smoke are above them.

The fire service added that Henley Road had reopened on Wednesday night.

At the fire's peak, 75 firefighters were in attendance and six crews continued to work at the scene on Wednesday afternoon as areas had reignited.

Commander Ryan Donaldson said 70% of the building had been damaged with the other 30% saved from the "significant" fire.

He added he did not believe anyone was in the building when flames broke out and told the BBC the fire service's priority had been to save part of the building and to protect local residents.
