After a brief pause, COVID-19 is back with another. Fresh cases have been going up in parts of India, prompting some states to start preparations for the availability of beds, oxygen, medicines and vaccines to tackle any further surge in infections.
Among states and UTs that have reported cases are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Delhi, which logged 23 infections on Friday and issued an advisory to hospitals.
Amid growing concerns, hospitals across these affected regions have been advised to ramp up their readiness. Delhi's Health Department issued an advisory to ensure the availability of oxygen beds, oximeters, and emergency response teams. "Hospitals are fully equipped and ready. We have asked medical superintendents to be vigilant. Eight senior health officials are visiting hospitals daily to oversee preparations," said Dr. Singh.
