Cogsworth

Cogsworth is a character from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. He is the Beast's majordomo, turned into an enchanted pendulum clock by the Enchantress' curse. Cogsworth is the voice of reason, overseeing the castle's servants to ensure everything is to the Beast's liking.

As majordomo, Cogsworth manages the servants and enforces the Beast's laws. His loyalty to the Beast is unwavering. The Enchantress cursed Cogsworth to become a pendulum clock as punishment for the prince's unkindness.

Cogsworth is second in power to the Beast, managing servants and enforcing laws. His responsibilities also include serving as a trusted advisor, maintaining peace, and managing the Beast's temper. Despite his position, Cogsworth is often the butt of jokes, particularly from Lumiere, with whom he shares a brotherly but rivalrous relationship due to differing views on the Beast's rules.

Cogsworth's goal is to retire to a seaside shack, away from "fools made of wax." He is pompous, bossy, and controlling, taking his role seriously and valuing his intelligence. Others often deflate his ego, making him irritable. He can be hypocritical but acts as a peacekeeper due to his loyalty to the Beast. He cares for the Beast's happiness and is loyal to his friends, never exploiting his power over Lumiere.

In Beauty and the Beast, Cogsworth opposes inviting Maurice into the castle but joins the other servants in helping Belle and the Beast fall in love to break the spell. He attempts to insist Belle join the Beast for dinner. Cogsworth later participates in a battle against an angry mob led by Gaston, working with Lumiere to defend the castle. As the Beast is restored to his human form, Cogsworth and the other servants also return to their human forms.

In Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, Cogsworth initially opposes celebrating Christmas but eventually joins in. He and Lumiere try to protect the Enchanted Rose from falling when Maestro Forte threatens the castle.

In Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World, Cogsworth participates in a dinner that goes awry. He also tries to win Fifi's affection and competes with Lumiere over a party for Mrs. Potts. Cogsworth learns he cannot demand respect but must earn it.

Cogsworth appears in House of Mouse in his cursed form, making cameo appearances and interacting with other characters. He also makes a cameo in Timon & Pumbaa and appears in Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers and Once Upon a Studio.

In the Kingdom Hearts series, Cogsworth appears after his homeworld is restored. He assists Sora in bringing the Beast back to his senses. Cogsworth also appears in Disney Heroes: Battle Mode and other games.

Cogsworth makes appearances in Disney theme parks worldwide, including Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disney Resort, Shanghai Disneyland, and Disney Cruise Line.
