CLOGSAG threatens strike over appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as Registrar

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has issued a stark warning to the government following the appointment of Mr Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of Births and Deaths.

During an emergency meeting on 11th February, 2025, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the association unanimously agreed that a nationwide strike would be their next course of action unless the appointment is rescinded.

In a statement issued earlier, CLOGSAG expressed strong objections to Mr Botchway's appointment, highlighting his political affiliations.

The association pointed out that he is a known NDC activist and a former District Chief Executive for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa in the Central Region.

"His political affiliations make him unfit for a position in the Civil Service, which must remain impartial and free from political influence," the statement read.

CLOGSAG further stressed that "The integrity of the Civil Service is built on neutrality, and appointing someone with such strong political ties threatens that foundation."
