City gets average 27.43mm of rain

Ahmedabad: Monday began with an overcast sky, the light breeze giving some respite from the sweltering heat that had continued for the past week. By around 2pm, the weather took a pleasant turn, bringing scattered showers across the city.

The overall average rainfall across Ahmedabad was measured at 27.43mm, with 21.76mm recorded between 7pm and 8pm.

Ramol recorded 56.5mm of rain, the highest in the city. The area received 22.5mm between 2pm and 4pm and 34mm between 7pm and 8pm. In Ahmedabad's eastern part, Chakudia received 43mm of rain between 2pm and 8pm. Other areas such as Odhav, Viratnagar, Nikol, and Kathwada recorded 38mm, 37mm, 33.5mm, and 41.5mm respectively.

Memco, Naroda, and Kotarpur each received around 31 to 32mm, while Maninagar recorded 29mm and Vatva experienced the highest in the east with 46.5mm.In the city's west, Paldi recorded 27.5mm, Usmanpura 25mm, Chandkheda 33.5mm, and Vasna 20.5mm. Ranip received 23.5mm, Sarkhej 21mm, Bodakdev 18mm, and Chandlodia 17.5mm. In the walled city, Jamalpur recorded 25mm of rain. Heavy rain led to waterlogging in several areas. The Mithakhali underpass was closed to traffic by 7.55pm due to water accumulation. Over 15 locations in the city's eastern areas, including the Saijpur underpass, reported waterlogging. Similarly, nearly 12 areas in the western part were affected. The water level at Vasna Barrage was recorded at 135 feet, with all gates remaining closed as a precautionary measure.
