Christians told to be law abiding
Reverend Wellington Klutse, Ho Kpodzi Parish Pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, has urged Christians to be humble, obedient, and law-abiding citizens.
He said these were the hallmarks of a new life in Jesus Christ.
Rev. Klutse made this exhortation at the beginning of a three-day Easter crusade organized by the SSNIT Flats District of the Church at Adaklu Vodze in the Adaklu District.
The crusade is themed “New Life in Christ,” based on Romans 5:4–5.
The pastoral district comprises five congregations: SSNIT Flats in Ho, Adaklu Kodzobi, Adaklu Vodze, Adaklu Have, and Adaklu Dzakpo.
Rev. Klutse noted that instead of distancing themselves from the world, many Christians had alienated themselves from Christ—the very one they professed to worship—and were leading worldly lives.
“It is disheartening to see many Christians still yoked with the world and engaging in the very acts from which Christ died to redeem us,” he lamented.
He expressed concern that many Christians had become alcoholics and users of hard drugs. He added that it was rare to see drinking bars in Muslim communities, yet Christians were selling and consuming alcoholic beverages.
Rev. Klutse reminded the congregation that their survival as Christians depended solely on Jesus Christ, saying, “Christ is as essential to our survival as water, food, and air are to human life.”
He observed that many Christians did not read or meditate on the Bible because they did not appreciate its value, leaving them spiritually stale.
He urged them not to neglect the teachings of the Bible and to make sacrifices for the Kingdom of God, emphasizing that such dedication would strengthen their relationship with God.
The Parish Pastor called on them to clothe themselves with the resurrected Christ, enabling them to lead godly lives in their homes, communities, and workplaces.
Rev. Dr. Francis Kuvor, the District Pastor, also encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in the face of challenges, reassuring them that “the resurrected Christ is in the boat with us.”
