Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, who helmed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Night Watch, and the 2016 remake of Ben-Hur, and written by Marco Van Belle, who wrote Arthur & Merlin, Mercy follows a detective trying to prove his innocence for a crime he didn’t commit.

Originally intended for release on August 15, 2025, the film is now rescheduled for January 23, 2026. While there is currently no official reason for the change as of this writing, it is possibly due to delays in post-production.

In its original spot, Mercy was slated to face off against Nobody 2, the sequel to Bob Odenkirk’s action flick, Mercy will now face off against a crowded Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday schedule: a yet-untitled Walt Disney Pictures film, the zombie film 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, and Weapons director Zach Cregger’s follow-up to 2022’s Barbarian, with a feature follow-up to the popular Nickelodeon animated series Aang: The Last Airbender, set to premiere the following weekend, as per Deadline.

Along with Pratt and Ferguson, Mercy’s cast includes Annabelle Wallis, Kali Reis, Rafi Gavron, Chris Sullivan, Kenneth Choi, Kylie Rogers, and Jeff Pierre.

Mercy will be released through Amazon MGM Studios.
