In just 4 months since the beginning of the year, Russian companies have supplied the Chinese aluminum market with $2.05 billion worth of aluminum, which is 1.5 times the level of a year earlier. At the same time, in general, for this period local companies increased imports of this metal from abroad by 1.7% in annual terms – up to 5.6 billion dollars.
Russia has been reorienting aluminum supplies to the Asian market for the past few years. In addition to China, as the agency calculated earlier, South Korea, another major importer of this Russian metal, also purchased a record $126.4 million worth of aluminum in April.
