CCC group commemorates Oshoffa's 40th transition with quiz

True Word in Season, a group in the Celestial Church of Christ, yesterday held an International Juvenile Bible Quiz Competition as part of its commemoration of the 40th transition anniversary of its founder, Pa Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa.
Thirty parishes participated in the competition held at the CCC National Headquarters Archdiocese, Makoko, Lagos, with home boys Babalola Jeremiah Hassan and Oluwaseun Abraham carting home the star prize of $1,500 for CCC National Headquarters Parish, while Mokola Parish came second (N500,000) and Sharon parish came third (N250,000).
Tracing the origin of the competition, the convener, Bro. Samuel Ademola Bolaji said the competition first took roots in 1979/80 during the lifetime of Pa Oshoffa, and that it was revived to further the late founder’s legacy.
“This competition began in 1979/80 during Pa Oshoffa’s lifetime. That’s why we showed the participants images of the 1982 version. I participated as a 7-year-old and I can tell that this was papa’s way of passing down a legacy. It was also a way of inspiring the Sunday school children, such that the knowledge of the bible and the doctrine of the church are passed and there is no confusion.”
Shepherd in Charge, Venerable Superior Evangelist Afis Kiki said the quiz competition “is the first of its kind and the best we can think of as far as futuristic missions are concerned.”
He implored youths of the church to leverage on their IT knowledge to further the CCC message and take it to the next level.
The True Word in Season will hold an International Juvenile Choir/Musical Concert on May 27 alongside a concurrent 116 days of testimonies for members to share their physical and spiritual experience with the late founder.
