C&S society marks centenary, pledges to uphold founders' legacies
The Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Society has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the spiritual and humanitarian legacies of its founding members as it celebrates its centenary.
At a press conference held at its headquarters in Okesuna Lafiaji, Obalende, Lagos, the society outlined a series of events marking 100 years since its establishment. The Centenary Anniversary Committee Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, emphasized the significance of the milestone, urging members to uphold the principles of prayer, evangelism, healing, deliverance, and modest living.
“C&S founders infused healing, evangelism, and a moderate lifestyle into their work, and it earned them rewards,” Ojelabi stated. “Hundred years is a milestone, faithful are hereby called upon to impact the world with those cherished legacies that formed the foundation of the church.”
The church, founded on June 18, 1925, by Capt. Abiodun Emmanuel with the support of Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase, has grown into a major religious movement in Nigeria and beyond.
The centenary celebrations commenced on Monday with a walk-for-life event. Other scheduled activities include a revival program on Wednesday, a musical album launch, free eye tests, and visits to traditional rulers, correctional centers, and homes for the needy on Saturday.
“There will be a centenary ordination and a thanksgiving service on June 18 to conclude the event,” Ojelabi added.
Speaking at the press conference, the Spiritual Head of the C&S Society, Babatunde Adebona, highlighted the importance of the revival program, stating that it would serve as a platform for the church to seek divine guidance for Nigeria.
“We pray for Nigeria and its leaders, asking for an end to insecurity,” Adebona said.
The Cherubim and Seraphim Society remains a significant religious institution in Nigeria, known for its emphasis on spiritual healing and evangelism. As it marks its centenary, the church aims to reinforce its foundational values while adapting to contemporary challenges.
