Brooklynite Pete DeJoy tapped to lead AI company Astronomer as alleged cheater Andy Byron forced to take leave after viral 'kiss cam' fiasco
A Brooklynite is taking over AI firm Astronomer amid the company’s viral cheating fiasco.
Pete DeJoy, the company’s cofounder, is taking over for former CEO Andy Byron as Astronomer looks into his alleged affair that was revealed by the Jumbotron at a Coldplay concert Wednesday night.
DeJoy previously served as Astronomer’s Chief Product Officer, the company said,

Byron has been placed on leave along with Kristin Cabot, the HR chief he was caught canoodling with on the “kiss cam.”
As of Saturday morning, however, neither executive has been removed from the leadership page of the company’s website.
“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability,” Astronomer said in a statement Friday.
According to his LinkedIn, DeJoy was a key member of the team that built the data company back in 2017, fresh out of college.
“Did whatever it took to bring the first incarnations of our commercial offerings to market and build our business,” he wrote in his career history section.
He was promoted to Senior Vice President back in 2023 before he was boosted to Chief Product Officer in February.

DeJoy started Astronomer right after graduating from Bowdoin College, a liberal arts school in Brunswick, Maine, that comes with a $64,910 tuition price tag.
He was a member of the football team his freshman year, the athletic page shows.
Originally from Westchester, DeJoy now lives with his wife in Prospect Heights.
How long DeJoy will serve as interim CEO is unclear — Astronomer announced Friday that it was investigating alleged misconduct after Cabot and Byron were spotted snuggling while swaying to the music at a Coldplay concert.
The awkward moment they both ducked out of view of the camera instantly went viral and the pair — each of whom appear to be married to other people — were quickly identified.
Byron and Cabot have not publicly commented on the incident.
