British Prime Minister says Kneecap Glastonbury appearance wouldn't be 'appropirate'
British Prime Minster, Keir Starmer, says he does not think Kneecap performing at Galsonbury Festival would be appropriate.
He was asked in an interview by the Sun if he thinks that Irish hip-hop trio should be playing in the Festival later this week which he responded with "No I don't."
He went on to say in the same clip that "I think we need to come down really clearly on this. I won’t say too much, because there’s a court case on, but I don’t think that’s appropriate."
He was asked the question after Kneecap member Liam Og O hAnnaidh (Mo Chara) appeared in court last Wednesday, after being charged for allegedly displaying a flag in support of proscribed terrorist organisation Hezbollah.
The band responded on their social media account to the clip of the Prime Minister saying:
"You know what's "not appropriate" Keir?!
Arming a f***ing genocide...
F*** The Sun and solidarity with Palestine Action."
