At the recently held Bollywood Hungama Style Icons Summit and Awards 2025, prominent voices from art and entertainment — Shalini Passi and Nikita Dutta — shared their perspectives on the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI), not only in films but also in education and society at large.

Art patron and philanthropist Shalini Passi highlighted the potential of AI as a problem-solving tool across sectors. “AI is able to combine all that together. And a fraction of the price is actually, it will really help them and solve all the problems. And also education, because our villages don't have teachers who are present at the time. So there are so many challenges there. But the resources are really beneficial.,” she said. However, she also cautioned about the need for stringent regulation. “There needs to be strong laws globally. But the real challenge is that every country has its own legal framework. World leaders must come together to align policies on AI governance,” she said.

Meanwhile, actor Nikita Dutta brought the conversation back to the film industry, voicing concerns many actors and creatives quietly share. “AI poses two major threats — misuse of identity and job replacement,” she explained. “From actors to writers to musicians, there’s an underlying fear of being digitally replaced. You could technically recreate my face and say we don’t need the actual me anymore.”

Dutta also referenced recent sentiments in Bollywood following industry discussions about using AI instead of writers. “Someone from the press once said — ‘AI can write, but who brings the emotional baggage to a story?’ That’s where the human soul still reigns supreme,” she noted.
