Presenting the desks last Friday (May 16), PTA Chairman Seth Kwame Kpedor said the gesture was also intended to provide a comfortable environment for students to pursue their studies effectively.

“We recognise the need for a conducive learning environment in the school, and the donation is meant to address that need to some extent,” he added.

Mr Kpedor assured that the PTA would continue to support BIHECO in various ways to help the school maintain its distinguished reputation.

In that regard, he revealed the PTA’s plan to complete the ground floor of a two-storey, 12-unit, two-bedroom staff quarters on the campus within the year.

The Headmaster, Francis Kudolo, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the PTA, describing the donation as both timely and essential.

“The second-year students are currently using the available desks for their end-of-semester examinations; the third-year students would have faced challenges if we had not received these desks,” he explained.

He pledged that the desks would be well maintained to ensure their longevity.

Mr Kudolo also acknowledged a recent donation of 40 desks by the Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga, and appealed to the school’s alumni and the general public to support BIHECO, which now needs 800 desks to accommodate its increasing enrolment.

He further announced that a sod-cutting ceremony would be held in the coming days for the reconstruction of the school’s main gate, a project being sponsored by the American Chapter of the Bishop Herman Old Boys Union (BHOBU).

The cost of the gate project was not disclosed.
