Bengaluru residents in Konankunte and Kanakapura Road now have access to ultra-fast drone deliveries for medicines, groceries, and electronics. Launched on March 27, the service follows a successful rollout in Gurugram and is set to collaborate with local vendors and major e-commerce players.

Branded as ‘Skye Drop’, the service by Skye Air uses drones capable of carrying up to 10kg per trip. These drones fly in a Skye Tunnel—a 120-metre-high air corridor—bypassing Bengaluru’s notorious traffic to ensure deliveries in under seven minutes.

Upon arrival, the drone descends to 20 metres, where the Skye Winch system lowers the package to the designated drop zone. The package is automatically released, and the drone returns via the same path.

For safety, the drones come with an onboard parachute system and operate with real-time 5G connectivity for navigation, tracking, and communication. The system also records flight data and environmental conditions to enhance efficiency.

Currently, the service is free, with plans to integrate more service providers. Partners include Shiprocket, DTDC, Blue Dart, and Ecom Express, paving the way for wider adoption in the city.
