Ben Rathbun's Death After Cancer Battle

Ben Rathbun, known from the TLC show "90 Day Fiancé," has passed away at the age of 55 after battling stage 4 stomach cancer. He was diagnosed in late 2024 and died at his home in Greencastle, Indiana, on May 19, surrounded by family. Before the official confirmation, blogger Shabooty reported on Ben's condition, noting his wife, Mahogany Roca, was by his side and that he was too weak for chemotherapy.

Fellow "90 Day Fiancé" stars expressed their condolences. Kim Menzies commented on the situation, acknowledging Ben's mistakes but affirming his good nature, while Tyray Mollet expressed sadness at the news. Ben's life also included legal issues. Last year, it was confirmed that he had been arrested and charged with embezzling between $1,000 and $20,000 from a non-profit organization. The offense allegedly occurred in October 2018, and he was accused of stealing from the Michigan Lupus Foundation, where he was employed before being terminated in March 2022. Ben stated that his firing would humble him and allow for personal growth, acknowledging that he had become a distraction to the charity's mission.

Ben gained fame on season 5 of "90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days" in 2021, alongside Mahogany, his then-girlfriend. Their relationship, marked by a 30-year age gap, began online and progressed virtually for three months before the show. The series documented Ben's journey to Peru to meet Mahogany for the first time. Concerns arose among Ben’s family and friends, who suspected potential red flags and questioned Mahogany’s authenticity. Mahogany initially stood Ben up at the airport, and their first dinner date was perceived as awkward. Ben also discovered that Mahogany was 22 instead of the 24 she had claimed.

Despite these challenges, Ben and Mahogany navigated their relationship and announced their engagement in August 2022. They later shared on a February 2024 episode of "90 Day Diaries" that they had married in a civil ceremony. Ben described the ceremony as beautiful and mentioned plans for a religious ceremony. However, trust issues persisted, with Mahogany continuing to live in Miraflores, Peru, while Ben resided in Michigan.
