Barnet boss Dean Brennan admitted he was delighted to see Danny Collinge commit his future to the League Two newcomers.

The Bees confirmed centre-back Collinge had signed a new contract with the club, after another excellent season and helping the club to National League glory despite struggling with injury.

Collinge scored four goals and added four assists last season, having become a stalwart in Brennan’s side since joining from Dover Athletic in July 2022.

“Danny’s one of the longest-serving players and I’m delighted to get him to sign and commit to Barnet. He’s led by example since he’s come here three years ago, and it’s great news for the club,” said Brennan.

“He’s shown us amazing loyalty and has been a huge part of turning our football club around from being a team near the bottom to creating success.”

The EFL newcomers also announced via a club statement that last season’s unsung hero Jordan Cropper has left the club.

The defender spent a year and a half in north London, making 68 appearances and grabbing nine assists, including 30 appearances in the club’s title-winning campaign.

The Bees confirmed a pre-season friendly with National League South side Hemel Hempstead on Saturday, July 5.

Brennan’s side will travel to Vauxhall Road having beaten the Tudors last summer thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Nicke Kabamba.

Meanwhile, National League outfit Wealdstone have confirmed the formation of a new women’s team ahead of the 2025/26 season.

A club statement read: "Wealdstone FC is proud to announce the formation of Wealdstone FC Women’s team, who will begin competing in the new 25/26 season.

"With the immense growth of women’s football worldwide, this marks the start of an inspiring journey for the Stones as we look to rapidly grow into an established outfit in the women’s game."

Board and Foundation Director Danny Kindell added: “It has long been an ambition of the club to have a complete pathway on the girls and women’s side of the club to equal that of the men.

"I’m absolutely delighted to finally be in a position to announce the launch of the Wealdstone FC Women’s team.

“I want to thank all those involved in getting this over the line, with special thanks to Gabi, who I got to know well through her role as leading the Brunel University Women’s Football Club, which Wealdstone FC have been involved in for the past year.

"I would also like to thank The Bugler Group for their sponsorship of the Trust, which has made this possible.”

The women’s team will play and train at the club’s Training and Academy Centre at Brunel University to begin with, and an unconfirmed number of fixtures will take place at Grosvenor Vale throughout the season.
