Barau backs Tinubu's reforms, urges national unity
Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, on Thursday, assured Nigerians that lawmakers would continue to enact legislative measures to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at building a prosperous future for the country.
Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, gave the assurance in his Eid-El-Kabir message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.
Among other things, the Kano politician also praised the President’s efforts to address Nigeria’s perennial security and economic challenges over the past two years.
He said, “President Bola Tinubu has demonstrated strong leadership and genuine commitment to addressing our country’s challenges. In the last two years, he has succeeded to a considerable extent in tackling our security challenges and stimulating our economy. We are on the path to prosperity.
“To consolidate the successes recorded under this administration, the National Assembly will continue formulating the necessary legislation to support the President in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to restore the country’s glorious days.”
The legislator urged Nigerians of all faiths to recommit themselves to the national ideals of unity, economic advancement, and peaceful coexistence during this festive season, noting that the lessons of Eid-El-Kabir — sacrifice, obedience, and charity — remain crucial for national development.
“This season reminds us to obey Allah’s instructions, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. True Muslims should live by the values of peace, tolerance, justice, and charity.
“Let us, regardless of faith, recommit to building a united and economically sound nation,” he stated.
Barau further appealed to citizens to continue supporting the President and to pray for the peace and progress of the country, emphasising the importance of collective responsibility in nation-building.
Extending his greetings to the Muslim faithful, the Deputy Senate President called on Nigerians to support the needy and use the occasion to strengthen the bonds of unity and national harmony.
“I wish Muslims, and indeed all Nigerians, a memorable Eid-El-Kabir,” he said.
