Barack and Michelle Obama Play Couples Challenge

Published 2 days ago3 minute read

The Obamas are jumping in on the couples challenge test.

Barack and Michelle Obama participated in a fun video for her "IMO" podcast's social media accounts, where they were asked a series of "who" questions.

Standing next to each other, the former U.S. president and first lady first point to the one “who apologizes first after a fight.” Both point to Barack Obama. Then, when asked “Who’s the funny one?” they both point to Michelle Obama.

The challenge continues with the former politician winning titles like most romantic, most patient, grumpiest in the morning, and biggest baby when sick — among others.

The two agreed that Michelle Obama was the one who takes longer to get ready, is more stubborn and requires more attention.

They however didn’t always agree on who was the better cook, said "I love you" first, who’s the bigger social butterfly and who’s the messier one.

The playful video came after they both addressed and — dismissed — divorce rumors during the July 16 podcast episode. At the top of the show, which is also co-hosted by her brother, Craig Robinson, he jokingly asked Barack Obama, "Wait, you guys like each other?"

Barack Obama then quipped, “She took me back. It was touch and go for a while.”

Michelle Obama then stated that “folks think we’re divorced” if they aren’t in the same room.

The couple, who have been married since 1992, share daughters Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24.

Divorce rumors circulated after she was noticeably absent from President Jimmy Carter's funeral in January and President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I have thought about quitting on my man,” Michelle Obama said during her podcast episode. “And we’ve had some really hard times. We’ve had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures. I’ve become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”

“OK, don’t make me cry now,” Barack Obama replied. “Not at the beginning of the show.”

Michelle Obama previously stated on the “Work in Progress with Sophia Bush” podcast that she has been prioritizing her time now that her family is out of the White House spotlight. In another interview with NPR’s Rachel Martin on “Wild Card” shared in June, she added that just because they don't share photos of everything they do together, doesn't mean they aren't.

“The fact that people don’t see me going out on a date with my husband sparks rumors of the end of our marriage,” she said. “It’s like, ‘OK, so we don’t Instagram every minute of our lives. We are 60. We’re 60, y’all.’”

She added, “You just are not going to know what we’re doing every minute of the day.”
