Bank holiday weather in Yorkshire as forecasters warn high winds and thunderstorm risk - Leeds Live

Parts of Yorkshire could be hit by thunderstorms and heavy rain on Bank Holiday Monday, according to the Met Office.

Monday's weather is likely to be unsettled across Yorkshire, with sunny spells and blustery showers which could become heavy at times, with a risk of thunder, according to forecasters. The maximum temperature for Monday will be 16C.

Huddersfield-based weatherman Paul Stevens is predicting that Monday's weather in Huddersfield will be 'very windy' and 'perhaps thunder'. Monday evening could see gusts of up to 55mph. The rest of the holiday week will remain unsettled with bands of rain followed by showers, and remaining windy throughout. The former Met Office forecaster can be followed on X @Huddsweatherman

Here's the weather forecast from the Met Office for today and into Monday and the rest of the week.

Cloudy but mostly dry at first, with spells of sunshine and showers developing through the morning, heavy at times with a risk of thunder. Strong, blustery winds expected, with gales possible over higher ground. Maximum temperature 17C.

A risk of showers continuing through the evening and overnight. Winds will ease slightly through the evening, though they will remain strong and gusty. Minimum temperature 7C.

Unsettled, with sunny spells and blustery showers, becoming heavy at times with a risk of thunder. A band of more persistent rain moving in during the evening. Maximum temperature 16C.

Staying changeable with spells of rain or showers interspersed with drier periods. Widely breezy, with temperatures close to or slightly below average.
