Bandits have killed one person in the Bokungi community, near Gbale, in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

It was gathered that the attackers stormed the village on Wednesday night and began shooting sporadically, causing panic and forcing residents to flee.

The incident happened barely 24 hours after suspected bandits killed a PDP chieftain and his son in Lile village, Patigi Local Government Area.

The chairman of Edu Local Government, Hon. Bello Abdullahi, confirmed the latest incident to Daily Trust during a phone conversation on Thursday evening.

He said, “It happened yesterday (Wednesday) night and the security agencies are aware. We are doing everything humanly possible to catch up with the perpetrators.

“It was just sporadic shooting in the community. There was no kidnapping or demand for ransom. They just came suddenly. I have visited the place and informed the relevant security agencies.”

The spokesman for the Kwara State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, acknowledged receipt of the message after several unanswered calls but neither confirmed nor denied the incident.
