Two Bandera artists will be among 25 of the state’s top creators featured at the 22nd Annual Texas Masters of Fine Art and Craft Invitational Show, to be held Memorial Day weekend at the YO Ranch Hotel in Kerrville.
Ceramic artist Vicky Phillips and plein air oil painter Steven Harris, both of Bandera, have been invited to return to the prestigious event, which runs Friday through Sunday, May 23–25. The show is free and open to the public.
Phillips, known for her functional yet whimsical “Mud Magic Art,” draws inspiration from the Texas Hill Country’s wildlife and native flora. Her mugs, trays, and bowls often feature sculpted antler handles and hand-painted wildflower designs.
Harris, a full-time painter who works both in his Bandera studio and outdoors, specializes in plein air landscapes that capture the Hill Country’s natural beauty. His oil paintings have been featured in Southwest Art magazine and recognized at art shows across central and south Texas.
Each exhibitor in the Texas Masters show is selected for their mastery of a particular medium, ranging from painting andphotographytoceramics, jewelry, woodworking and more.Theshowiscoordinated byDanandLindaBaker, both longtime exhibiting artists.
“We’ve shown together with some of these artists since the 1970s, so it always feels as much like an annual reunion as an art show,” said Dan Baker. “The YO hotel is a great place for collectors to hang out with their favorite artists, and we’ll all have new pieces to unveil at the show.”
The YO Ranch Hotel is located at 2033 Sidney Baker (Hwy. 16), a half mile from exit 508 on Interstate 10. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
