Asset Declaration: Some Supreme Court Justices have not complied - Sulemana Braimah alleges
Braimah’s comments come at a time when a Supreme Court nominee, Justice Senyo Dzamefe, disclosed that he has declared his assets.
Justice Dzamefe stated that for as long as the Constitution says public office holders must declare their assets, the justices of the apex court must comply.
“If the constitution says all public officers must declare their assets, Supreme Court Justices must comply. I have declared my assets,” he said during his vetting by the appointments committee of Parliament on Monday, June 16.
He stressed, “Mr. Chairman, as the honourable has said, if that is the law that all government appointees should declare their assets, and judges are government appointees, they should declare their assets. Why not?”
Reacting to this in a post on his X page, Sulemana Braimah said, “Why shouldn’t judges declare their assets? – Justice Dzamefe quizzes.
“My Lord, some of the Supreme Court Justices have not complied with this Constitutional requirement. What can be done to them? Or we should name them first?”
