Army, police commit to tackling insecurity in Borno
The Nigerian Army’s Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) and the Borno State Police Command have pledged to sustain their collaboration in combating terrorism, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the state.
The renewed commitment to inter-agency cooperation was disclosed yesterday during a courtesy visit by the Borno State Police Commissioner, Naziru Abdulmajid, to the Theatre Commander of OPHK, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, at Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.
Abdulmajid’s visit forms part of his engagements with key security agencies following his assumption of duty as the 43rd Commissioner of Police in Borno.
During the meeting, the police commissioner expressed his appreciation to the Theatre Commander and the GOC for their steadfast dedication to restoring peace and security in Borno. He underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the military and police in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Highlighting the significance of inter-agency synergy, Abdulmajid remarked, “The collaborative efforts of the military, police, and other security agencies could bring an end to the 16-year Boko Haram insurgency in Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad region, comprising Nigeria, Chad, Niger, and Cameroon.”
Responding, Major General Abubakar congratulated Abdulmajid on his new appointment and assured him of OPHK’s continued support for the police.
He reiterated the military’s commitment to fostering joint operations and strengthening inter-agency synergy to tackle terrorism, kidnapping, and other crimes in the region.
