APC Governors Predict More Defections, Hail Party's Growing Strength
Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have promised that more governors would defect to the party to deepen subnational government in the States.
According to them, the gale of defections is a testimony that the APC government in Nigeria is being admired by many people.
The chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, stated these while briefing journalists on the outcome of an emergency meeting of the APC leaders with defectors from.Delta State held in Abuja on Saturday night.
Arise News reports that although Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State was absent, the meeting was attended by the Governors Bassey Otu (Cross River), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Usman Ododo (Kogi) and Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) States and its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Uzodinma who said the tide of defection is moving and will not end also spoke on how to integrate old and new members of the APC in Delta State.
He said, “You can see the tide is moving and people are joining and there will be no end to it, to the extent that I’m sure even you will soon join us. You must have heard that our party in Delta State is growing from strength to strength.
“The high point of the state of the party is that Delta State is now almost a one-party state. So, with that development, we have to meet to be able to manage this very huge success, to ensure that using the internal mechanism of our great party, we will grow the party and support the government in Delta State for the benefit of our people and members.
“So, I think we are happy with the development and a big testimony to the fact that the APC government in Nigeria is being admired by many, if not all and sundry. We are happy. We are happy people. You can see it from our faces.”
On why Oborevwori Was Absent, Uzodinma said, “No, the meeting was not designed to have the Governor of Delta State. If you want to see us with the Delta State Governor, come to Asaba tomorrow.”
