Anupam Kher and Pankaj Tripathi Make Statements at 'Metro...In Dino' Trailer Launch

The trailer launch for the upcoming film 'Metro...In Dino' was a notable event, held at an auditorium in Mumbai, graced by the presence of its star-studded cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, and Neena Gupta, alongside producer Bhushan Kumar and director Anurag Basu. The event provided a platform for insightful discussions and memorable moments, particularly from veteran actor Anupam Kher and the versatile Pankaj Tripathi.

Anupam Kher captivated the audience by reminiscing about the nature of romance during his youth. He shared, "I come from a small town where it used to take 7-8 months just to see someone. This is the time when I was in college. Ungli agar chhoo jaaye toh lagta tha ki bas kamaal ho gaya!" He spoke of Shimla's 'Lover's Lane' as a place of commitment. Kher then humorously recounted a personal anecdote: "There was a girl that I used to like a lot... We were walking on the lane at 3-4 pm... Suddenly I saw my father coming from the opposite direction! I wondered, 'What is my father doing here at 3 pm'. He kept coming closer. I thought, 'If I told this girl that my father is coming, toh kissa khatam ho jaayega'. Hence, when he came very close, I told him, 'Namaste uncle'! He replied, 'Beta, how is uncle? Give him my regards!'"

Continuing his reflections, Kher contrasted the enduring nature of past relationships, citing his parents' 60-year marriage, with contemporary dynamics. "Today, the independence of individuals is very important in a relationship... Commitment is not only about getting married to somebody. Fir woh independence karne ki acting shuru karte hai. As a result, pyaar hone ka time hi nahin milta hai. Pyaar hota hi nahin hai, in my opinion," he observed. Kher also expressed his disapproval of modern dating terms, stating, "Now I hear terms like benching and all...hadd! In our time, all this never existed. I have heard of many other terms. There are also so-and-so buddies. Iska kya matlab hai? Aisa kaise ho sakta hai?" referring to concepts like 'f**k buddies'.

Pankaj Tripathi also stole the show with his characteristic wit. After a journalist shared their views during a segment where actors posed questions to the media about love and relationships, Tripathi humorously remarked, "Aaj kal ke zamane mein pyaar ke baad social media bhi ek aadh ghante ke liye jaga deta hai! Premika so gayi hai lekin Instagram so hi nahin raha hai!" Later, when discussions turned to box office trends, Tripathi, channeling his famous 'Mirzapur' character Kaleen Bhaiyya, confidently stated, "Sabki chinta duur ho jaayegi. Maine prabandh karwa diya hai." This prompted Ali Fazal, also part of 'Mirzapur', to quip, "Pankaj ji, hum yahin baithe hai!" drawing much applause.

Anupam Kher also shared a personal connection to the event's venue. "On June 3, 1981, I came to this city. And on June 9, I got my first job here in this very theatre, that of a teacher," he recalled, noting it was then an open auditorium with cement seats. "Today, when I came here, toh poori zindagi aankhon ke saamne se guzri." He praised the T-Series team and Anurag Basu for choosing the location and described the actors' pre-event energy, likening it to theatre actors before a show: "Someone was doing pooja, Pankaj ji was doing rehearsal, Neena and I were doing lines and so were Aditya and Konkona. It was an electrifying experience."

The event was filled with other highlights, including a role reversal where actors engaged the media with questions about love. A particularly heartwarming moment occurred when Anupam Kher reminded everyone that it was Neena Gupta's birthday, leading to a collective singing of 'Happy Birthday' by the cast and media for the acclaimed actress. Director Anurag Basu and distributor Anil Thadani also briefly touched upon box office trends during the launch.

The film 'Metro...In Dino' is scheduled for release in cinemas on July 4. It was also confirmed by composer Pritam that Aditya Roy Kapur will be making his singing debut in the film, adding another layer of anticipation for the movie.
