Another cold night tonight, snow showers return Thursday night
Tonight features skies increasing in cloud cover until around midnight, with skies clearing once again toward dawn. Watch for icy spots after this afternoon’s snow melt once again – a trend that will continue over the next couple of days. Otherwise, it’s a quiet night with a light southeast breeze that will keep temperatures from dropping nearly as much as last night. We’ll be about fifteen degrees warmer than last night, with lows in the upper single digits – still very cold but not nearly as dangerous as what we have seen the last few nights!
Thursday begins on a sunny note, which in combination with a southeast breeze will warm us up to around 30 degrees. However, clouds will be on the increase by the afternoon as a weak cold front approaches. That system will bring snow showers back into the region overnight, which will create the risk for icy spots once again with light snow accumulations expected. Low temperatures will drop into the mid teens.
Friday continues the risk for a few snow showers early, with a northwest to west breeze allowing more upslope as Thursday’s system exits the region. Expect a mostly cloudy day with off and on snow showers waning late with high temperatures dipping back into the mid 20s.
StormTracker 59 Travel Forecast
Saturday sees a return in the sunshine with high pressure back in control of our weather. As that high shifts to our east, we will pick up a nice southwest flow for the afternoon, which will nudge temperatures up close to average for the afternoon with highs in the mid 30s.
Sunday provides the risk for a few afternoon rain and snow showers with temperatures remaining slightly below average for this time of year still with highs in the mid 30s. Overall impacts from this system will be minor, but a couple of icy spots with light snowfall accumulation can’t be ruled out.

Monday provides the risk for a few upslope snow showers, mainly during the morning with high temperatures once again in the low 30s.
Tuesday sees high pressure return and we will be close to normal for temperatures as high temperatures bump back up to around 40 degrees.
Wednesday continues our sunny and warmer trend, with plenty of sunshine expected and high temperatures jumping back up into the mid 40s. We have not been this warm in quite some time!
Looking ahead in your extended forecast, temperatures are looking to finally return closer to normal and perhaps even above normal as we wrap up the month of January and enter February as our jet stream kicks back north. That means we will still have an active pattern, but this will trend to more of a rain shower than snow. The warmer pattern looks a bit more sustainable as we wrap up the month of January and enter February.
